An air purifier is used to purify the air inside a home or a building, removing contaminants like dust, pollen, dander, gases, and smog particles. Air purifiers are becoming very popular because they help make homes and buildings more comfortable and healthy.

The type of air purifier you need depends on how much pollution you face. In general, air purifiers are divided into two types, ionizers and gas purifiers. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks, so you will have to decide which one best suits your needs.

Ionizers remove air pollutants bypassing positive and negative ions through the air in a room. Negative ions are able to attach themselves to molecules of organic pollutants and form covalent bonds with them. Positive ions are able to attach themselves to molecules of solid substances. When the ions bond with these pollutants, they get pulled up into the air in the form of vapor and then get expelled from the room or building through a fan.

Outdoor air purifiers use a different method for clearing the air. They filter the air with filtration media that traps the pollutants. Pollutants are pulled out of the air and deposited in plastic containers.

Indoor air purifiers can clean the air in a house or building by adding ozone to it. Ozone in the air is made by making a substance called chlorine. Chlorine is a disinfectant and is also produced by bacteria, but it’s also produced by humans when they get sick.

The chemicals in the ozone are safe to breathe, but some types of contaminants in the air can damage the air purifier or its filtration media. These include volatile organic compounds (VOCs), volatile hydrocarbons (VHCs), and particulate matter.

Other types of chemicals are used for cleaning purposes. Chlorine is still used to produce ozone, but it is now also used for other purposes like dehumidification. This makes ozone a really useful product for cleaning purposes.

However, ozone is only used in an air purifier if the company that makes the purifier will guarantee that the ozone used will not damage the filters of the purifier. They will be able to do this by using only purer gases than those that are used in their purifiers. Chlorine and ozone are totally different in composition.

The filter of ozone is made of porous material like porcelain. The small holes are large enough for the gas molecules to enter but not large enough for the gases to leave through. They only leave through the glass screens on the purifier.

The indoor air purifiers that use ozone must be located in a place where they cannot come in contact with other surfaces. The location is important because you will need to be protected from the particles of dust, pollen, gases, and other pollutants.

Some of the most popular indoor air purifiers include the ROxAir HEPA air purifier, Oreck Air purifier, and Syneron NanoAir. Each of these purifiers works for removing particulates and dander from the air.
